How does the reservation work?

Reserving your unit is easy! Just scroll up and pick the size that's right for you. We offer both interior and drive-up units, and every unit at Big Sky Storage is climate-controlled. Reserving takes a $49 deposit, and you won't start paying your monthly rate until you actually move in, which we expect to be around October 15, 2026 (getting close!). Your monthly rate will be the discounted price shown (struck-through) on the rental page. Once we receive our Certificate of Occupancy, we'll reach out by text, email, or phone 2-4 weeks ahead of time so you know exactly when you can move in. At move-in, you'll also have the option to add tenant protection through SafeLease to keep your stored belongings covered. Text or call us at (406) 623-9410 if you have any questions at all! What is the height of all units?

Our 12x15, 12x25, and 12x35 drive-up units offer just over 11' of clearance, tall enough for a high-roof sprinter van. Our 12x45 drive-up units offer 13' of clearance. All of our interior units have just under 7' of clearance.

How safe is this facility?

Very. The entire property is lit with LED lighting, monitored by cameras covering every angle both inside and out, and secured with OpenTech access control on every door, so only renters can get in or out. For extra peace of mind, we also offer tenant protection through SafeLease to help keep your stored belongings covered.

Big Sky Storage is locally owned and operated. Scott Hammond is a co-developer of Big Sky Storage and a deeply rooted entrepreneur who has helped shape the Big Sky, Montana community since 1994. After building and successfully transitioning Hammond Property Management, a local fixture for nearly three decades, Scott launched this state-of-the-art facility to meet the region's growing need for premium, secure storage. Combining his extensive background in local property care with dedicated civic service on the Big Sky School Board, Scott is proud to deliver a world-class storage solution built specifically for the Montana lifestyle. John Romney is a co-developer of Big Sky Storage and a visionary real estate developer who has been instrumental in growing the Big Sky Town Center. An active community advocate involved in local economic development and school programs, John partnered on Big Sky Storage to bring a much-needed, premium storage solution to the local and second-homeowner communities he proudly serves.

Do the units have lights and power? Can I store and charge my vehicle?

Yes! All of our units have lighting, even the interior units, and every size of our drive-up units comes with standard outlets plus NEMA 14-50 plugs, so you can charge your electric vehicle right in your unit.

Can I access my unit whenever I want?

Yes! We offer 24/7 access, so you can get to your unit whenever works best for you. Need something at 7am on a Sunday? No problem. Swinging by at 1am Monday after wrapping up a late job? All good... your unit is available around the clock.

When does Big Sky Storage open?

We are opening in October 2026. The building is up and we are finishing the interior now. You can reserve a unit before we open.

Can I reserve a unit before you open?

Yes. Pick your size above and reserve it online. Reserving now is how you hold a specific unit for opening, and the first release is limited.

Are the units really all heated?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every unit on the property is heated through the winter and cooled in the summer, including the drive-up bays. There is no unheated product here.

What is the largest unit you have?

A 12x45 heated drive-up bay. That handles most RVs, boats, trailers and work trucks stored inside rather than out in the weather.

Do you have upstairs units, and how do I get things up there?

Yes. Upper-floor interior units are served by an elevator, so you are not carrying loads up stairs.
